If you purchased a brand new truck, you want it to stay in great shape as long as it can. Not only will your truck look great, but if you decide to sell it in the future it would sell much faster. Below are two tips to help you get started on this.

Use a Truck Cap

A truck cap covers the bed of your truck. You will also hear a truck cap called a truck topper or camper shell. It will not only make your truck look great, but will protect the bed of your truck from many things. For example, the weather could blow sticks, rocks, or anything else in the bed that would scratch it up. If someone was walking by your truck they couldn't do any damage to it because it would be covered up.

There are many types of truck caps you can choose from. One type clamps down on your truck with J-hooks and has a rubber seal around it, which makes it very secure and water proof.  If you do not want to have to remove the cover each time you want in the bed of your truck, then a rolling cover would work well. This type of cover rolls back into a canister using a handle. Most of these covers come with a type of drain tube as they may leak when it rains.

Visit a manufacturer that makes truck caps, such as J & C Campers, to look at the different types to help you decide what would work best for your truck.

Protect the Paint

If you do not have a garage or any type of cover to keep your truck in, the sun would fade the paint. To prevent this from happening, you can put a paint protection film on your truck, which is also known as a wrap. This film is clear and will also protect your truck's paint job from rust, scratches and from flying rocks.

The wrap can cover the entire exterior. It is sprayed on, which may sound easy, but this is very time consuming. Instead of doing this on your own, ask your manufacturer if they will do this for you, or you can find someone else that is experienced in doing this.

Keeping your truck clean will also keep it looking great. When cleaning, don't forget about the underside. If you ever drive on road salt, this can cause rust to build up.
